Ashburton Brownies
The 1st Ashburton brownies meet on Tuesdays in St Andrews Church Hall, West Street. Meetings start at 6.00pm and finish at 7.30pm and girls aged between seven and ten are welcome to join. The new Brownie Programme is called "Brownie Adventure". The name reflects the excitement and fun it offers each Brownie (and her leaders). The Brownie Adventure is dynamic and recognises the diverse needs of all young girls and their leaders (whatever their backgrounds) in the 21st century. It's bright and modern, with a framework that encourages each girl to realise her full potential and to progress through Brownies by taking part in a variety of fun, interesting and challenging activities. The Ashburton Brownies continues to provide young girls with a full programme of structured, well-organised and entertaining evenings throughout the year in school term times. It is a break from the routine of schoolwork and allows the children to develop friendships away from school and, by setting some "fun" challenges, it permits children to grow naturally over a period and register achievements outside of the academic environment. If you have a responsibility for bringing up a young girl and think that she might enjoy being involved, then the first thing to do is telephone me on (01364) 653482, so that I may speak to you about any vacancies that exist, and perhaps arrange to allow her to experience one of our evenings. Fiona Posner - Brown Owl.
